The program is auspiced by Wesley Mission Brisbane. In 2009 EHP commenced an LGBT 'Drop In' service - 'QSPACE'. QSPACE aims to support health outcomes for LGBT youth (or youth questioning sexuality or gender identity) by providing access to support, resources and information.

Why is QSPACE important?

Approximately 8-11% of Australian young people experience same-sex attraction. Australian and International research indicates links between sexuality, gender identity and suicide and self harm. A 2005 study of same-sex attracted young people in Australia found that 35% of same-sex attracted young people reported hurting themselves due to their sexuality. 64% of young, same-sex attracted males and 23% of young, same-sex attracted females reported thinking about or attempting suicide. Therefore, QSPACE's objective is to provide a relevant, friendly, support service for young LGBT people.
